Abstract

This article focuses on calculating the volume of excavated material for the design and construction of the Nizhne-Chatkalskaya Hydroelectric Power Station on the Chatkal River. For these purposes, geodetic surveys were conducted at the site to determine the coordinates of control points, and aerial photography was conducted using an unmanned aerial vehicle. Based on the obtained photographic materials, photogrammetric linking of the images was carried out using field plan-height referencing, and then topographic plans were created at a scale of 1:1000 with a relief section of 0.5 m. Vectorization of topographic plans of the executive survey at a scale of 1:1000 with a relief section of 0.5 m from previous years was also carried out. Digital terrain models (for digital earth models) were created using vectorized plans. The volume of excavation work was calculated using the digital earth models (DEMs) and the Auto CAD Civil 3D software package between successive epochs. The methodology for calculating the volume of work was based on a universal calculation method – using a parallelepiped, the base of which was chosen to be a square with a side of 20 m (on a plan scale of 20 mm).
