Abstract

The paper addresses the development of carbon infrastructure for nature-based solutions (NbS) and AFOLU-sector projects in the context of the global climate agenda. Institutional models of leading jurisdictions and Central Asian regional experience are comparatively analysed. Special attention is given to the landscape and soil specifics of Uzbekistan — a country with a high concentration of arid degradation risks and unique scientific competence in saline, irrigated and carbonate soils. A gap analysis of national MRV system readiness is conducted. Uzbekistan's strategic niche in the global carbon credit market is substantiated, and a phased national roadmap for 2026-2032 is proposed.
