Abstract

This paper presents the results of horizontal velocity estimation at the stations of the Tavaksay geodynamic polygon based on multi-year GPS observations. The data were processed using the GAMIT/GLOBK software package. The highest velocities (up to 31.6 mm/year) were recorded at the northeastern stations, while the southwestern stations showed lower values and different displacement directions. The identified differences confirm the activity of the Karjantau fault and the kinematic heterogeneity of the region. The results are relevant for refining the local geodynamic model and assessing seismic hazard.
