Abstract
This paper synthesizes observed data and presents a model to analyze historical changes in precipitation and air temperature, offering potential adaptation recommendations for sustainable water management practices in the study area. Surkhandarya province, located in the southern part of Uzbekistan, was selected due to its water scarcity challenges and issues with water shortages exacerbated by climate change. The study utilized datasets from the Climatic Research Unit (CRU), which provides monthly climate variation data from January 1901 to December 2019. Longitudinal analyses of air temperature and precipitation were conducted over the past century, dividing the data into two 26-year periods: 1964-1990 and 1990-2016. Results indicate a 0.7°C increase in air temperature in the study area, impacting glacier melting in upstream zones and ultimately affecting water availability and security.
