Theoretical and methodological aspects and problems of studying the socio-economic situation of rural areas are considered in the article. Rural areas are an important socio-economic and socio-cultural system of society, and the development of rural areas depends to a large extent on the dynamics of reforms implemented in the socio-economic spheres and priority directions aimed at solving the problems that have arisen. The author draws attention to the need to study rural areas based on an integrated approach.
