LAND USE IN THE EU AND SCO MACRO-REGIONS: A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS IN LIGHT OF THE UN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

Abstract

The article presents a comparative analysis of land use in the EU and the SCO countries for the period 2010-2023 in the context of achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The dynamics and structure of land resources are examined, revealing trends in the changes of different categories of lands. Special attention is paid to the comparative analysis of agricultural development coefficients and ploughing coefficients, as well as their interrelationship. Significant differences in the nature of land use between the two macro-regions are identified, determined by historical, natural-climatic, and socio-economic factors. The observed trends are assessed from the perspective of the SDG. Recommendations are formulated for harmonizing approaches to sustainable land management within the framework of international cooperation.
