Abstract

This article examines advanced approaches to the effective management and rational use of rainfed lands based on an analysis of international experience. In particular, it highlights conservation agriculture and no-till technologies in United States, terracing and rainwater harvesting technologies in China, the integrated use of rainfed lands with livestock farming in India, the practice of cultivating export-oriented crops on rainfed areas in Iran, as well as innovative water-saving irrigation systems in Israel.
