COMPARISON DIFFERENT INDEXES FOR DETECTION OF SOIL SALINITY USING LANDSAT 8 (OLI) IMAGERY

Abstract

Soil salinity is a significant concern in arid and semi-arid regions, impacting agriculture and the environment. Remote sensing techniques offer valuable tools for assessing and mapping soil salinity. This study employs Landsat 8 (OLI) imagery to calculate three different salinity indexes and assess their effectiveness in detecting surface soil salinity in the Pre Aral Sea region. The findings indicate that the Salinity Index 2 (SI2) is the most suitable index for mapping and detecting soil salinity in this area.
